  • 1814: British forces under General Phineas Riall are defeated by American forces under Major General Jacob Brown at the Battle of Chippawa during the War of 1812.
  • 1884: Germany takes control of Cameroon.
  • 1915: The Liberty Bell leaves from the city of Philadelphia and heads to the Panama Pacific International Exposition. It’s the last trip outside the city the bell will make.
