Thank You Note Day

Thank You Note Day is a holiday that’s appropriately placed on the calendar. That’s because it’s observed on December 26th—the day after Christmas—so it’s the perfect time to write a thank-you note to anyone who gave you a gift.

Although writing thank-you notes isn’t as prevalent as it used to be, it is still a more personal way of thanking someone than just sending them an email. Taking the extra effort to write a handwritten note shows the recipient that you care enough about them to take the extra bit of effort.

Some Reasons To Write More Thank You Notes

Although Thank You Note Day only occurs once a year, we encourage everyone to send more thank-you notes to friends, acquaintances, and family members. Why? Well, for one, it’s nice to express your appreciation when people do nice things for you. But that isn’t the only reason to write more thank-you notes. We thought of a few more reasons below why you should write thank-you notes.

  • It’s the right thing to do.
  • It sets you apart from other people.
  • If you show appreciation to other people, they’re more likely to do nice things for you.
  • They help to maintain an important but quickly vanishing part of our culture.

Observing Thank You Note Day

Observe Thank You Note Day simply by buying or making your own thank-you notes and sending them to everyone who attended your holiday parties or sent you a special gift. The best way to start the note is with a friendly greeting, followed by a personal anecdote about the circumstances under which the gift was given.

You can then end the note with a warm thank you and sign it. While you’re observing this holiday, be sure to use the hashtag #ThankYouNoteDay online to get everyone interested in celebrating this holiday.
