Holistic Therapy Day

Holistic therapy is a type of treatment that attempts to address the entire person. It integrates spiritual, emotional, and mental well-being with physical well-being. The purpose of this therapy is to help individuals develop a better understanding of themselves.

This discipline doesn’t attempt to treat a particular ailment or illness but instead focuses on the entire person. Although this form of medicine has been slow to develop in Western countries, it is beginning to become more popular. A testament to its popularity is the creation of Holistic Therapy Day on July 26th every year.

The History of Holistic Therapy Day

Holistic therapy has been around for over 2,000 years. A perfect example of this practice can be found in traditional Chinese medicine. Holistic medicine can also be found in the Indian medical tradition of Ayurveda.

Western herbalism developed in ancient Greece and Rome and quickly spread throughout the rest of Europe. All these disciplines have converged in the West to make up the totality of modern holistic therapy. Although holistic medicine was slow to take root in the U.S., it did experience a significant increase in popularity during the 1970s.

Since then, it has slowly become adopted by an increasing number of people. Today, this discipline is at the height of its popularity, and it would appear that it’s going to remain popular for the foreseeable future.

Unfortunately, we’re unsure of exactly when Holistic Therapy Day was created. It is obviously a holiday that’s been around for quite some time, but we’re unsure who originated it or when it was created. We’ll continue to try to research the origins of this holiday and hopefully will one day be able to identify where it came from.

Observing Holistic Therapy Day

For us, the real beauty of this holiday is that people can decide for themselves whether or not they want to celebrate it. People who aren’t familiar with holistic medicine or who still have doubts about it as an effective treatment and/or lifestyle can take the time to educate themselves on the subject.

For people who do practice holistic medicine, this is a day for them to visit their holistic therapist. No matter which camp a person resides in as it pertains to this holiday, everyone can take the time to spread the word about this holiday using the hashtag #HolisticTherapyDay. People can seek to unify their emotional, mental, spiritual, and physical selves under one umbrella and hopefully be a more whole person because of it.
