National Mac & Cheese Day

As if this iconic meal needs any introduction, we will try! On July 14th, celebrate National Mac & Cheese Day. The creamy goodness is a joy in every bite, and for many, it is a family favorite for good reason. We’re not saying you need to wait until July and July only, but it can be fun to find out more about how this day came about.

What Is National Mac & Cheese Day?

Comfort food is as good as any other; it can be a satisfying main or even a side at a restaurant. It is one of the first meals that people tend to make on their own as it is simple, yet completely satisfying. The combination of cheese, milk, and macaroni pasta is a winner. Recently, people have tended to get more creative, and we are all for it. Whether you prefer the more traditional recipes or like to toast breadcrumbs on top or whatever else, no one can tell you theirs is right.

It is considered a national dish in Canada and has been made popular by Kraft Foods, who sell its boxes. These boxes are the biggest-selling grocery item in the country.

The dish is so popular that crayon maker Crayola has even named a color after it.

How To Observe National Mac & Cheese Day

The obvious way is to make the dish for yourself. There are tons of inventive recipes to try, including adding bacon or jalapeños. The more traditional-minded will want to stick to what they know, which is fine; there are plenty of recipes available online.

By using the hashtag #NationalMac&CheeseDay, you can get involved and spread the word. You never really need an excuse to make it, but why not invite the family over, or ask mom if she will make her version.
