Public Service Holiday

Civil Servants’ Day in Brazil is a day off for civil servants and bank employees. This holiday happens once a year at the state level. This day falls on October 28th, however, the Brazilian government decides if it should be moved to another day for a longer weekend. They might officially shift it to the closest Friday or Monday to October 28th.

Brazilian civil servants work in different government branches, like the legislative, executive, and judicial sectors. They’re spread across the Federal Government and its units, states, federal districts, and municipalities. These folks play a big role in Brazil’s politics, economy, and culture, which is why everyone in ministries and government offices also gets this extra day off.

In a nutshell, this holiday is an additional day off for civil servants and bank employees, that they can use to spend time with their families.
