Chic Spy Day

Chic Spy Day is a holiday that celebrates the stylishness of movie spies. Thanks to the movies we watch, whenever we think of spies, we think of people with impeccable style. Don’t believe us? Well, just take a look at James Bond (played by Sean Connery) in Goldfinger, Harry Palmer (played by Michael Caine) in The Ipcress File, or Harry Hart (played by Colin Firth) in Kingsman: The Secret Service.

Need more examples? Well, how about Napoleon Solo (played by Henry Cavill) in The Man From U.N.C.L.E.? We think we’ve made our point, so if you’re looking to celebrate this holiday, remember it’s on October 5th every year.

The History of Chic Spy Day

This holiday was created by a fashion website known as chicspy.com in 2015. They placed this holiday on October 5th because this is the day when Dr. No premiered at the London Pavilion in 1962. That premiere is also the reason why this day of the year is known as James Bond Day as well.

Oops, We Forgot the Best Well-Dressed Female Movie Spies

Looking over our introduction, we realized that we included nothing but male movie spies, and we completely forgot the ladies. So we decided to correct that right now and list some of our favorite female movie spies.

  • Lorraine Broughton (played by Charlize Theron) in Atomic Blonde.
  • Dominika Egorova (played by Jennifer Lawrence) in Red Sparrow.
  • Mrs. Smith (played by Angelina Jolie) in Mr. & Mrs. Smith.
  • Ilsa Faust (played by Rebecca Ferguson) in Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation.

Observing Chic Spy Day

Chic Spy Day can be observed by taking a few moments to emulate the style of your favorite movie spy. Since it’s also James Bond Day, you can also combine the two holidays and throw some kind of “spy” party or ball. And while you’re showing off your favorite “spy looks,” don’t forget to share them using the hashtag #ChicSpyDay on social media.
