Have A Party With Your Bear Day

Once upon a time, Teddy Bears were toys that only children could enjoy without fear of someone giving them a strange look. However, over the past few years, that has changed. Now, there are just as many adults with these toys as there are children.

This isn’t surprising, considering that Teddy Bears have been around for over 120 years, and people have fond memories of these toys—memories that give them comfort when they’re feeling stressed.

All they have to do is give their bear a hug, and they can instantly be in their happy place. That’s probably why someone had the bright idea to create a holiday called Have a Party With Your Bear Day and placed it on November 16th.

The History Of Have A Party With Your Bear Day

We’ve gone over the history of the Teddy Bear in other holiday articles, so we’re not going to wade too far into this subject. All we’ll say is that the Teddy Bear was invented in honor of U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt following a hunting trip in Mississippi on November 14, 1902.

He was part of a bear hunting party that couldn’t find a bear to hunt. One of his aides did find a young bear and managed to tie it to a willow tree, but Roosevelt refused to shoot it because he felt that it was unsportsmanlike to kill the bear in this way. News of this event spread quickly and ended up making its way into a political cartoon. Shortly thereafter, the Teddy Bear was created in his honor. And the rest, as they say, is history.

While we’re quite familiar with the history of the Teddy Bear, we can’t say that we’re familiar at all with this particular holiday. We’re pretty sure that Have a Party with Your Bear Day hasn’t been around for very long, maybe only a few years, but we can’t find its exact origin date.

We also couldn’t uncover who may have invented this holiday. It seems to have just spontaneously appeared on the Internet one day. We know that’s not particularly helpful, but we’ll continue to search for the origins of this holiday, and perhaps, one day, we’ll find out who invented it.

Observing Have A Party With Your Bear Day

One of the main ways for people to observe this holiday is by throwing a party and including their Teddy Bears in on the fun. This can be a tea party with just a few friends (and some stuffed bears), or it can be a full-blown party. And what if you don’t have any Teddy Bears to observe this holiday?

Well, if you don’t, then you can either buy some, or you can contact one of the Mobile Teddy Bear services that provide Teddy Bears just for parties. Just keep in mind that these services aren’t available in all areas. Don’t forget to use the hashtag #HaveAPartyWithYourBearDay on social media, too.
