Happiness Happens Month
Happiness is an emotional state characterized by feelings of contentment, satisfaction, joy, and fulfillment. When most people think of happiness, they consider these emotions to be caused by the fulfillment of long-term goals. However, that doesn’t have to be the case.
People who achieve short-term goals, or who are simply happy being in the moment, can also achieve this emotional state. Although some people believe that happiness is an elusive experience, everyone has the opportunity to enjoy it.
A month that attempts to prove this point is Happiness Happens Month. It is observed every August and aims to demonstrate that happiness can find those who are ready for it.
The History of Happiness Happens Month
This month can be traced back to the late 1990s when Admit You’re Happy Day was created by the Secret Society of Happy People. Who are these people? We don’t know, and that’s probably because they’re a secret society.
What we do know is that this day eventually expanded to include more days in August until it became Happiness Happens Month.

Observing Happiness Happens Month
We know that it can be difficult to generate spontaneous moments of happiness, especially when people have so many things going on in their lives. That’s why we urge everyone not to chase happiness but to be ready for it when it arrives.
What we mean is that people should do the things that bring them moments of joy and contentment. People should also cultivate the relationships with their loved ones that they want to have. If people spend more time with their loved ones and with the activities they love, then happiness is much more likely to show up.
And that’s sort of the point of this month. Many people chase things that they think will bring them happiness when they really should be looking around for the things that are already in their lives and are capable of bringing happiness.
People living in their moment of happiness can also let others know about it by using the hashtag #HappinessHappensMonth. If happiness is contagious, then that’s a good way to spread it to more people.
