National Make A Dog’s Day

National Make A Dog’s Day is a holiday that encourages people to show their pet dogs a little bit of appreciation for all they do. Dogs provide us with love, companionship, and security, all without asking anything in return. Some dogs are even working dogs that take care of tasks that either people can’t do or are too dangerous for people to do.

For all of that, we should all take the time to show them appreciation by observing this holiday on October 22nd. And because dogs are so easy to make happy, it won’t require a whole lot of time or effort to celebrate this day.

The History of National Make A Dog’s Day

When we researched this holiday, we expected it to have been created by an organization such as the ASPCA—and in fact, this holiday was created with their help. What we didn’t anticipate, however, was that the automaker Subaru would also be involved with this holiday.

In their association with the ASPCA, Subaru introduced this holiday as a part of Subaru Loves Pets Month in October. This was done in 2015. The holiday has since taken on a life of its own and is now celebrated every single year faithfully by dog owners.

Observing National Make A Dog’s Day

There are a number of different ways to celebrate this holiday. All you need is a little bit of imagination. One of the ways this holiday can be observed is by buying your dog the toys or treats they enjoy. Another way to observe this holiday is to adopt a pet that’s been sitting in a shelter waiting to be adopted.

And the final way is to give a shout-out to everyone on social media about this holiday using the hashtag #NationalMakeADogsDay. If we all work together, we can make sure that the dogs of the world receive the love and appreciation they deserve. After all, we owe them quite a lot.
