The following year, the celebration of this holiday was even bigger — with approximately 100,000+ businesses participating in 24 different countries.

We also know that the second Tuesday of October was chosen as the date to observe this holiday for a number of reasons. One, that date was chosen because it’s free of bank holidays in most countries. Two, the day was chosen because it’s not a busy work day for most businesses.
