Pretend To Be A Time Traveler Day

In popular culture, there are a ton of different devices that characters can use to travel through time. There’s the phone booth from Bill & Ted, the DeLorean DMC-12 from Back to the Future, the TARDIS from Doctor Who, and of course, the Time Machine from the movie The Time Machine.

And that’s only the list of the more well-known time-traveling devices in pop culture. It seems that traveling through time is a concept that has captured and held our imaginations for generations.

There’s even a holiday dedicated to time traveling, and this holiday is called Pretend to Be a Time Traveler Day. This holiday is celebrated on December 8th every year in whatever year your time machine deposits you.

The History of Pretend to Be a Time Traveler Day

This holiday was created in 2007 by a post on the Koala Wallop online community. It didn’t take long for the holiday to gain momentum not only in the forums but all over the internet. This isn’t surprising considering humanity’s fascination with traveling through time.

Observing Pretend to Be a Time Traveler Day

According to the original forum post for this holiday, this day is to be celebrated by acting like a time traveler. Yes, you should spend the day role-playing the part of a time traveler from another era. You can do this by misusing technology or using slang in the wrong way.

You can even dress up as your favorite time-traveling character from books, TV, or movies. Speaking of time-traveling TV programs and movies, this is a good day to catch up on some of them. While you’re doing so, don’t forget to use the hashtag #PretendToBeATimeTravelerDay on your social media accounts.
