Motivation And Inspiration Day

Every January 2nd is observed as National Motivation and Inspiration Day in the U.S. This holiday is designed to help people find the motivation they need to make serious changes in their lives.

It is placed on the day after New Year’s because most people have probably spent the holiday season engaging in some very unhealthy habits, such as eating and drinking too much.

This day is one during which people are supposed to put those bad habits behind them and build a plan for going forward over the course of the year. So, let’s all roll up our sleeves and find the motivation that we need to kick off the New Year right.

The History of National Motivation and Inspiration Day

This holiday was originally the brainchild of Kevin L. McCrudden, a motivational speaker who helped people find their path in life. After the tragic events of 9/11 in the U.S., he was able to get the U.S. Congress to pass a holiday that acknowledged the importance of inspiration and motivation in every American’s life.

The result was the U.S. Congress passing a bill that created National Motivation and Inspiration Day. This bill was passed on December 18th, 2001, and the holiday was observed for the first time in 2002.

Important Facts About Inspiration & Motivation

To many people, inspiration and motivation are ethereal concepts that don’t have any concrete foundation in reality. They are notions that are hard to embrace. We understand how that can seem like the case, and that’s why we’ve decided to list some of the things about inspiration and motivation that we know about. We hope the following points will clear up any confusion around both concepts quite nicely.

  • Even though motivation and inspiration are used interchangeably, they are not the same thing.
  • Inspiration is influencing people mentally to do something creative.
  • Motivation is the process of encouraging someone to act.
  • Motivation can be intrinsic, meaning coming from within, or extrinsic, meaning coming from outside sources.

Observing National Motivation and Inspiration Day

National Motivation and Inspiration Day is a holiday that encourages everyone to get inspired and to get motivated. Of course, this can mean different things to different people. What’s inspiring to one person might not be inspiring to someone else.

That’s why everyone should find that thing that inspires or motivates them. Once they’ve done that, they can then share it with all of us using the hashtag #MotivationAndInspirationDay online.
