National Raisin Bread Month

Is there anything tastier and more comforting than a nice slice of raisin bread, especially on a cold autumn day? We don’t think so, and there are other people who agree, or they wouldn’t have turned November into National Raisin Bread Month.

This is the perfect month to enjoy toasted raisin bread with butter, raisin and cinnamon French toast, raisin bread pudding, or peanut butter and jelly on raisin bread sandwiches. As we’ve just illustrated, there are several ways to enjoy raisin bread during the next 30 days. So, we encourage everyone to make or buy the best raisin bread they can and party down all November long.

The History of National Raisin Bread Month

Unfortunately, we were unable to uncover the origins of National Raisin Bread Month. Was it created by the raisin industry? By the bread industry? Maybe it was created by someone who just loves raisin bread. We’re unsure, but we’re more than happy to celebrate it when it comes around every year. Now, who’s in the mood for a peanut butter, banana, and apple jelly sandwich on raisin bread?

Observing National Raisin Bread Month

National Raisin Bread Month is best observed with plenty of raisin bread and a bit of imagination. Even though some people will be happy just having raisin bread with butter a few times this month, others are going to want to get a little creative with their use of raisin bread.

They might want to take popular sandwiches such as the chicken salad sandwich, the BLT, or the hot roast beef and cheese and simply use raisin bread instead of white or wheat. Personally, we think this is the perfect month to make a Thanksgiving Sandwich.

Also known as a Pilgrim Sandwich or Puritan Sandwich, it’s a sandwich that uses up the leftovers from Thanksgiving dinner. Usually, it’s slices of white bread that contain sliced turkey, cranberry sauce, stuffing, gravy, and sometimes even mashed potatoes.

Now imagine that between two slices of raisin bread. Sounds delicious, doesn’t it? Regardless of whether a person uses raisin bread for their morning toast or uses it to make various sandwiches, the one thing that everyone can do is to spread the news about this month on social media.

This is easy enough to do by using the hashtag #NationalRaisinBreadMonth on posts for the month. You can even do it while enjoying a Raisin Bread Thanksgiving Sandwich.
