  • 1782: Almost 100 Native Americans who had just converted to Christianity are killed in Gnadenhutten, Ohio by Pennsylvania militiamen. They’re killed in retaliation for raids that were performed by other Native American tribes.
  • 1862: The Naval Battle of Hampton Roads starts during the American Civil War.
  • 1916: During World War I, British forces try to lift the Siege of Kut at the Battle of Dujaila but fail.
