- 1470: King Edward IV of England is forced to flee to the Netherlands by rebel forces led by Richard Neville. This allows Henry VI to reascend to the throne.
- 1535: The area the city of Montreal is located now is discovered by Jacques Cartier.
- 1552: The Grand Prince of Russia Ivan IV Vasilyevich – otherwise known as Ivan the Terrible – conquers Kazan.
- 1780: A British Army officer – John Andre – is hung as a spy by American forces during the American Revolutionary War.
