  • 1738: The border dispute between Pennsylvania and Maryland known as Cresap’s War or the Conojocular War ends when a treaty is signed between the two States. That treaty established the border and resulted in an exchange of prisoners between Pennsylvania and Maryland.
  • 1787: The U.S Constitutional Convention begins in Philadelphia after delegates from 7 States have arrived.
  • 1865: Approximately three hundred people die when an ordinance depot explodes in Mobile, Alabama.
  • 1895: Novelist and playwright Oscar Wilde is convicted of gross indecency with male persons and is sentenced to 2 years in prison.
