  • 1470: King Edward IV of England is forced to flee to the Netherlands by rebel forces led by Richard Neville. This allows Henry VI to reascend to the throne.
  • 1535: The area the city of Montreal is located now is discovered by Jacques Cartier.
  • 1552: The Grand Prince of Russia Ivan IV Vasilyevich – otherwise known as Ivan the Terrible – conquers Kazan.
  • 1780: A British Army officer – John Andre – is hung as a spy by American forces during the American Revolutionary War.
  • 1789: The Bill of Rights is sent to the States by George Washington for ratification.
  • 1835: Mexican troops attempt to disarm the residents of Gonzale, Texas but locally assembled militias resist them, thereby beginning the Battle of Gonzales during the Texas Revolution.
