  • 1066: William the Conqueror leads Norman forces against the English Army on Senlac Hill. Norman forces defeat the English forces and end up killing King Harold II of England.
  • 1322: King Edward II of England is defeated at Byland by Robert the Bruce of Scotland. As a result, England has to recognize the independence of Scotland.
  • 1758: Prussian forces is defeated by Austrian forces at the Battle of Hochkirch during the Seven Year’s War.
  • 1777: Several British East India Company’s tea ships are set on fire at the old seaport of Annapolis, Maryland.
  • 1863: Robert E. Lee and his Confederate forces fail to drive Union forces out of Virginia at the Battle of Bristoe Station during the American Civil War.
  • 1882: The University of Punjab is founded.
  • 1884: George Eastman receives a patent from the United States Government for his new paper-strip photographic film.
